Two lucky Powerball® tickets—one sold in Missouri and the other in Texas—matched all six numbers in Saturday night’s drawing, splitting a staggering $1.787 billion jackpot, the second-largest
prize in U.S. lottery history.
The winning numbers for the September 6 drawing were 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, and the red Powerball17. The Power Play® multiplier was 2.
The record-setting run ended after 42 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner, surpassing the previous longest streak in the game’s history. The only jackpot larger than this one was the $2.04 billion prize won in California on November 7, 2022.
“Congratulations to our newest jackpot winners and to the Missouri and Texas Lotteries,” said Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and CEO of the Iowa Lottery. “Every ticket sold not only gave players a chance at life-changing prizes, but also helped fund important programs in their communities.”
Payout Options
Each winning ticket is worth an annuitized $893.5 million or a lump-sum $410.3 million, before taxes. The annuity option includes an immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments, each increasing by 5%.
Other Big Wins
It wasn’t just the jackpot winners celebrating Saturday night:
18 tickets matched all five white balls to win $1 million each. These were sold in California (2), Colorado, Florida, Illinois (2), Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York (2), Ohio (2), Oregon, Texas (2), and West Virginia.
2 tickets—sold in Kansas and Texas—doubled their winnings to $2 million by adding the Power Play® option.
232 tickets won $50,000 prizes, while 90 tickets scored $100,000 prizes with Power Play®.
In the Double Play® drawing, tickets in Florida and Maine matched all five numbers, each claiming $500,000.
