Tesla's Robotaxi Faces Driving Errors During Texas Test Runs

Tesla's ambitious robotaxi project is encountering challenges during testing in Texas, raising questions about its readiness. CEO Elon Musk has closely tied Tesla's future to its self-driving

technology. With a recent dip in sales, successful rollout of autonomous vehicles is more crucial than ever. Musk announced plans to expand the service to additional U.S. cities later this year, projecting “millions of Teslas” operating fully autonomously by mid-2026.

Although Tesla enthusiasts who participated in early trials shared positive footage of smooth rides, several troubling incidents have emerged. Reports indicate the robotaxis made critical errors such as entering incorrect lanes, abruptly braking, speeding, driving over curbs, and even dropping off passengers in dangerous spots like intersections or the middle of multi-lane roads.

These issues have drawn scrutiny from federal road safety regulators and automotive safety experts, adding pressure as Tesla pushes forward with its driverless future. Photo by Dllu, Wikimedia commons.
