Pop icon Taylor Swift has revealed she is engaged to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
Swift shared the news on Instagram Tuesday, posting: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The announcement was accompanied by photos of Kelce’s proposal, including shots of the couple holding hands and showcasing Swift’s diamond ring. Within an hour, the post had already racked up over six million likes.
The backdrop for the engagement reveal featured a floral setting, with the pair embracing and smiling.
Swift, fresh off her record-breaking Eras Tour, has long been one of the most decorated artists in music. Known for weaving her relationships into her songwriting, her fans have spent years analyzing lyrics for clues about her love life. Recently, Kelce has been a frequent presence at her shows and the two have appeared publicly together at numerous events.
The engagement announcement comes just days after Swift made a rare guest appearance on Kelce’s popular podcastNew Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason.
On the show, Swift revealed how their romance began. She joked that Kelce used his podcast as a “personal dating app” after he publicly shared his disappointment at not meeting her backstage at one of her concerts. Kelce had even made a friendship bracelet with his number on it—an Eras Tour fan tradition—which he hoped to give her.
“That clip went viral and honestly, it felt like he was standing outside my apartment with a boom box saying, ‘I want to go on a date with you,’” Swift explained.
Family and friends encouraged her to respond, telling her Kelce was “amazing.” Eventually, she gave in. “It was exactly the kind of moment I’ve been writing songs about since I was a teenager,” she said.
Since then, the couple has been inseparable—Kelce often cheering her on during her tour and Swift calling him “a human exclamation point” and “the good kind of crazy.”
